Not only they did everything right, the 3D printed prototype is now turned into the finish product. Eco trainers, the brainchild of Adidas and environmental activists, are going on sale.

Around 7,000 pairs will be available for environmentally conscious buyers, who care for the oceans so much, they are ready to pay $220 for a pair. Plastic for these already famous shoes has been collected from an island of debris floating on the sea near Maldives polluting the oceans. Adidas now promised not stop there and announced even bigger plans towards sustainability. They want to eliminate virgin plastic from their supply chain altogether and replace it with recycled one.

Caring for the environment does not come cheap for the sportswear manufacturer. But, as millennials are mixing sportswear with fashion and sustainability is close to their hearts, the German company’s strategy may just pay off.
