Coming sooner or later

April 21, 2016

One of the largest Kickstarter projects stopped quarreling with its customers and is finally delivering The world’s best travel jacket to their doorsteps. It is not the first time swift collection of orders, followed by delays and poor fabrication is questioning the whole crowdfunding idea.

The researchers from the University of Pennsylvania found out that three quarters of internet backed crowdfunding have not delivered on their original promises. Moreover, the projects which far exceed their funding goals are even more likely to face delays. Initial optimism and growing success seem to easily end in tears. Baubax raised over ten million dollars on crowdfunding sites last year, but soon encountered problems with fulfilling its promises. To make matters worse, the company not only failed to deal with the crowdfunders’ complaints, but even started selling the jackets to other buyers.

It looks like online crowdfunding is becoming less of an opportunity to invest in good ideas and more a pre-ordering tool for items which have not been released yet.
