Quarreling over food

November 2, 2015

From endless arguments between vegetarians and meat lovers, to the latest WHO scare over processed meat, it is obvious the relationship with food has never been easy.

Therapists report more couples are having arguments over their food bills. Since one in four food buyers call themselves health-conscious, the quarreling about how much money should be spent on pure Himalayan salt or imported superfoods is not to be taken lightly. This is especially true, since our brain perceives food and money as almost the same thing. Women, who are more likely to go for the best and the freshest produce, are put under additional strain. With more than a tenth of household income being spent on grocery, choosing overpriced or fashionable food can easily spark a confrontation, especially during the coming holiday season.

Ironically, to avoid bickering at the table, maybe we should consider adding food on inappropriate dinner topics, alongside politics and religion.
