Investment power of women is growing

July 21, 2014

Women not only control majority of household budgets, but will also inherit two thirds of all the money being passed down. No wonder the bankers are trying hard to swoon us into investing, the question is how?

Females are known to be more cautious while dealing with risk. This personal trait is also reflecting in our investing behaviour. Even while living longer and benefiting from long term returns, we like to keep only small proportion in stocks. We also ask far more questions while deciding which basked is best for our eggs and prefer environmentally friendly assets.

So, the first idea to lure us into riskier dealings was to employ more women to financial advice. It turned out we do not care so much about gender of our advisers, but rely on competence, straightforwardness and good track record. Forget about pink pencils with fluffy tops, better offer green products that balance risks and rewards.
