Martine’s Legs

February 17, 2014

Martines legs

Described as elegant, classy and shy, Martine Franck was one of the rare Magnum ladies. A busy contributor to magazines such as Vogue, Life and Sports Illustrated, she remained with the agency for over three decades.

Documentary style of Martine’s photographs is celebrated both, through icons of her time such as Marc Chagall or philosopher Michel Foucault, as well as through hidden world of Tibetan monks. Unfortunately she spent most of her career in the shadow of her husband, Henri Cartier Bresson. He produced the most famous depiction of – her legs. Martine’s Legs can be admired by June in The Centre Pompidou.
