Real woman mannequin

December 5, 2013

size16

Fashion retailers consider size 10 mannequins as standard, although an average woman hardly meets these dimensions. Therefore, it is no surprise the first photo of size 16 mannequins posted on a Swedish blog early this year went viral. Now a British retailer Debenhams decided to display normally proportioned, size 16 mannequins in its flagship London store.

Researchers recently found, that women are three times more likely to buy clothes worn by the models of their size. Since the average British woman is 1,60m tall and weighs 70 kg, the size 16 mannequins are much better representation of real woman. Decision for size 16 mannequins will surely help to promote female body confidence among shoppers. However, it is to the sales to decide whether other retailers will follow.
