Couch commerce frugality

December 2, 2013

This season two thirds of all smartphone owners are planning to shop for gifts from their gadgets. That puts into question the old oriental saying, Half of the sale is done when customer steps in the shop. Couch commerce is clearly on the rise, with 350 percent increase over the last two years.

In exchange for better deals, consumers in US have replaced loyalty cards for apps. Online buyers are now using customized tools, from social media platforms to location technology apps, all to simplify their shopping experience. Buying was never that easy. It looked like going online will bring back compulsive shopping, even diamond bracelets have been sold over gadgets. However, retailers should wait before they count their chickens. Research show, nearly half of smartphone shoppers are going to spend less than $100 on their mobile devices this year. That may well mean frugality will linger also on couches.
