Aiming for privacy

August 24, 2013

How relevant app culture is to youngsters? The latest Pew research shows, nearly two thirds of American teens have downloaded an app to their mobiles or tablets. Only a quarter of adults have done the same. However, are apps redefining teen culture, or will teens reshape the industry?

The latest research also suggests many teen apps users have taken steps to uninstall or totally avoid apps that may breach their privacy. Location information is considered especially sensitive to teen girls. Majority of them have disabled location tracking features because they are worried about others’ access to that information. This is a clear sign defending privacy is becoming ever more important. It is yet another incentive for the industry to reach for better transparency.
