What is pestering Madame Lagarde?

May 19, 2013

What worries head of the IMF when she comes home at night? In her last interview with the Wall Street Journal Christine Lagarde listed two challenges of our world: climate change and the education of women.

While asked what will happen if the climate risk is not addressed properly, she replied in her straightforward manner: “our kids will be grilled, fried, toasted and roasted”. She is also convinced the education of girls together with better access to financing for women will stabilise economies around the world. Yet, Madame Lagarde admits those are long term goals, more short term issues pestering her these nights are still countries deficits and financial regulation.
