World leaders do not bother

January 26, 2012

After most of developed countries have imposed quotas to ensure better representation of women in business and politics, the world leaders in Davos could not be bothered. Only 17% of participants to the main business event of the year are women.

However, some efforts are still being made. The organisers of the World Economic Forum introduced the programme of increasing diversity and ensured 20% of the panellists are women. In addition, the top 100 companies attending the event were obliged to form their delegations with every fifth participant a woman. Sadly, 20 of them decided to bring to Switzerland just four people.
