To guess or leave blank?

November 23, 2011

Do men at tests guess more often than women? A Harvard economics grad student claims they do. The experimental tests exploring whether women skip more questions than men showed that women more often leave it blank, whereas men tend to guess.

Moreover, when there was no penalty, all test takers answered every question. But, with the penalty imposed, women answered significantly fewer questions than men. It seems women are more critical or cautious, even while taking a test. The Harvard study proved again, that women are more risk averse than men, yet another reason to introduce more women in the ailing financial sector.
