No great job for women

November 11, 2011

»The securities industry doesn’t do a great job for women« claims Sallie Krawcheck. The former head of Bank of America’s global investment management unit in a recent interview stated, that Wall Street should also become more relevant to a younger generation. As these clients are more sceptical of the industry due to tarnished reputation, the lack of female advisers pose one of the biggest challenges for the wealth management.

The Wall Street statistics speaks for itself. Women make up only 17 percent of advisers in the financial industry today. In senior management positions, that number is even smaller. On the  other hand young women are becoming wealthier by year. “We do have large groups of people – women – who are underserved by our business” concluded Krawcheck, who is often perceived as one of the most powerful women on Wall Street.
